Our Truesdell Elementary School and Brightwood Park community are devastated on the tragic passing of Zy'aire Joshua, a four year old Pre-kindergarten student at Truesdell.
On the afternoon of April 1, Zy'aire passed away after a fatal car accident at Georgia Avenue in Northwest DC.
Zy’aire was a smart, kind, and joyful little boy. He eagerly joined his classmates with a huge smile on his face and loved singing and dancing with them. He was a kind little brother to his big sister and was such a helpful big brother to his new little brother. He will always have a special place in our hearts.
Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to Zy'aire's mother, siblings, family, and friends. Zy'aire will be deeply missed by the Truesdell ES and Brightwood Park community.
We are asking for your support for Zy'aire's family in this time of need in the form of monetary donations to help cover memorial expenses. All donations are being transferred directly to Ms. Shaquan Smith, the mother of Zy'aire.

En la tarde de April 1, Zy'aire falleció de un accidente automovilistico con en la calle Georgia Avenue en Northwest, DC.
Zy'aire era un niño intelligente, amable, y alegre. El siempre se ponia feliz cuando se juntaba con sus compañeros de clase y le encantaba cantar y bailar con ellos. Era un buen hermano menor a su hermana y un muy buen hermano mayor a su nuevo hermanito. El siempre tendrá un lugar especial en nuestros corazones.
Mandamos sentidos pésames y condolencias para la mamá, los hermanos, la familia y los amigos de Zy'aire. La escuela Truesdell y la comunidad de Brightwood Park va extrañar muchísimo a Zy'aire.
Estamos pidiendo el apoyo de la comunidad para apoyo financial durante este tiempo tan difícil para ayudar a cubrir los gastos funerarios.
