My beautiful friend Kristian is in poor health. He is currently in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Manila. He started to feel unwell 18th June on board the ship he works, yet finished his contract and was admitted the day of his return home, on 12th July.
Kristian has advanced tuberculosis, respiratory disease and has two types of pneumonia. He is breathing through an oxygen machine. He has had a stroke which he has awoken from. He has had one operation and is due another soon. There have been other complications too, positioning him in a fight for his life.
This fight can be won. Against the medical odds he is pushing back with all his might and has been stable for the last few days. We hope and pray for his full recovery.
Thus far his medical bills have exceeded his annual income and are growing. The rest of his extremely hard earned wage for the whole year has been used for supporting members of his family, as his father passed away a few years ago. Ironically, he also gave two lump sums to workmates whose relatives needed medical treatment. He is the kindest, most gentle and thoughtful person.
In the Philippines most people are not rich and the family had to sell their home to pay for his late father's treatment. I have no choice in my heart but to do the best I can to assist in his recovery. I arrived in Manila on 30th July and will remain here to support him, his mother and two sisters, until he is back to full health. I am with him around the clock.
I am asking for donations to create a fund to ease some of the financial pressures associated with his situation.
He is only 26 and I have loved him from the day I met him. I want him to live. I do not want his family to lose him so soon after their father.
After one month in hospital, his medical bill has already exceeded £15,000 (a huge amount of money for most people in the Philippines) yet he must be an in-patient for quite some time. He needs specialist attention from multiple doctors, an army of drugs and support systems, constant care and physical therapy, but has no more funds available.
Please donate anything you can. I can not tell you how much he, his family and I would appreciate this and how much it would mean. Literally, life saving.
If you are so inclined, we would also appreciate it very much if you would pray for Kristian.
I had to place a picture on this GoFundMe appeal but I can not bring myself to show you his current dire condition. He deserves some dignity. The picture is of better times, when last year we took a trip together to the island of Siquijor here in the Philippines.
Much much love to you all.
Samuel.
