Hi. This is Greg and Peggy Swartz, My lifelong family friends Michael and Jeannie Hudson have been at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville Florida for almost 5 weeks now. He went in for aneurysm surgery that was supposed to take two hours. The surgery took over six hours and went fine. Two days later he ended up with staph infection in the lungs. On day 4 he had to be intubated. After that, he had to be put on a tracheotomy and feeding tube. 2 days later he aspirated on feeding tube and coded. He was on total life-support for almost 2 weeks and the struggle has been real. His blood pressure, heart rate and respiratory rate, cannot be kept under control. The expenses that the family is incurring are unexpected and astronomical. Jeannie is by his side everyday and is 120 miles from home. Mike has health insurance that pays 80%. But imagine being in ICU for over 35 days the expenses are outrageous.
Jeannie is trying to put on her tough face, but life is struggling. Mike was supposed to go to rehab on Monday August 12. But now he has infection and white blood cell count doubled overnight. Now they are doing cultures on everything to find the source of infection. He continues to have a fever when he is on Tylenol around the clock. Prayers are appreciated. Thank you.
