I’m raising funds to support the New Dream Cambodian Children Organization (NDCCO), a non-profit school in Siem Reap, Cambodia, that provides free English education to children from low-income families. This school gives children the chance to learn, grow and build a better future through education, care and daily support.
NDCCO is a vital part of the local community, but keeping it running comes with major ongoing costs. The school depends on donations to continue operating and to support the children and families who rely on it.
Why We Need Your Support
Running the school currently costs close to $4,600 USD per month.
These costs include teacher and staff salaries, school supplies, electricity, internet, transport and food for the children. Based on the school’s current budget, the fixed monthly operating costs are $3,768 and food for the children is $200 per week, which adds $800 per month.
Proper nutrition plays a critical role in helping our students stay focused and engaged during classes. Ensuring they have at least one healthy meal each week keeps them energized and ready to learn.
That said, this campaign is not only about funding one single month. The goal simply reflects the scale of what it takes to keep the school running. The true purpose of this GoFundMe is to raise any amount of support possible so that NDCCO can continue helping children through free education, meals and essential care. Every donation helps, no matter the size.
Supporting Families Beyond the Classroom
Many of the children’s families face severe financial hardships, making it difficult for them to put food on the table. To ease this burden, we provide rice donations to these families. With just $15, we can feed an entire family for a month. Supporting parents in this way allows them to focus on keeping their children in school and building a brighter future together.
Meet Kimlean, the Heart Behind NDCCO
Kimlean, the founder of NDCCO, knows firsthand what it means to struggle and rise above adversity. After reconnecting with his family by sending half of his first paycheck, Kimlean saved enough to buy his first motorbike and became a tuk-tuk driver. Over time, he grew a successful business, giving tours around Angkor Wat.
In 2014, motivated by his desire to help children escape poverty, Kimlean opened a free English school for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Funded entirely from his own pocket, the school has become a pillar of hope in the community. Alongside running the school, Kimlean personally provides monthly rice donations to 45 families, working tirelessly 7 days a week to make it all happen.
With four daughters, a son and an unwavering commitment to the community, Kimlean is a true inspiration to us all. His dedication fuels the spirit of NDCCO, and with your help, we can continue supporting this incredible work.
Join Us in Changing Lives
By supporting NDCCO, you’re you’re transforming lives. Your generosity helps children access free education, ensures families have food security and empowers an entire community to break the cycle of poverty.
I’ve only been here a couple of days and unfortunately only get to spend another week here before heading home, but I will certainly be back again on my next trip out to SE Asia. Kim, these children, the staff and all of the other volunteer teachers are such incredible people and my heart goes out to them. Together, we can keep this dream alive. Thank you for your support!
