Jessica's Van with lift
Donation protected
Jessica was diagnosed with Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy on November 20, 1998. Sadly, Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy is terminal.
I am asking for this money in order to purchase a van with a lift for Jessica. The van will be used to transport Jessica to and from Stanford Hospital for her appointments. I know the money we are asking for is a lot, but really any help is greatly appreciated.
Here is some background on jessica:
When Jessica was three months old, it was evident that a decision had to be made; the doctors thought it was time to take her off of her breathing machine. Jessica had started to get infections, and the doctors had tried several times to take her off of her support system, but Jessica just couldn’t manage to breathe on her own.
Jessica was given a special room, and our family spent hours holding and loving our tiny precious baby girl. The doctor turned off her support system, and we all held our breath waiting for Jessica to pass, but instead, she took a big breath, shocking and amazing everyone in the room. It was then, the doctors told us to take Jessica home and love her for as long as we could, til the day God decides to take back his angel.
The doctors said Jessica would never walk, talk, jump, dance, or play like other children. But Jessica has proved everyone wrong. Today, Jessica is in high school, and she can walk and talk. Unfortunately, everyday is challenge for Jessica, and yet she greets everyday with a smile, high spirit, and enthusiasm for the day’s activities. We are a small family, and there are only three of us that can care for Jessica with no outside help. Taking care of Jessica, especially when she is sick, is very hard both physically and mentally. But we are so thankful to have her in our lives, we care for her gladly; we just love and admire our miracle girl.
It is impossible to know how much time Jessica has, but for now, we are just so thankful to have her. My purpose for writing, and asking strangers for help, is for Jessica to get what she needs in her world. It is very hard for Jessica to move when she is sick due to her disease. Mom, dad, and myself do all of her care at home, as there is not much the hospital can do.
This van would be an indescribable gift for Jessica, and for our family. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for reading, and for your contribution. Everyday that Jessica lives, she proves that despite her constant struggles, she embodies a positive and uplifting attitude. Your donation enables us to supply a far better quality of life for Jessica, and blesses our family insurmountably.
God bless you all.
