Cancer Sucks: Bob's Journey

Donation protected
Meet one of the kindest people on the planet, Bob.  He's a husband, a friend, a father, and his favorite roll...a grandpa to my daughter Wilhelmina.  The two of them share an indescribable special bond that is undeniable when they are together.  Bob means the world to us.

Over the holidays when he came to visit us in the mountains, Bob experienced some difficulty breathing at night.  We thought it was the altitude and we were all certain he would feel better once he got home to Oregon.  And he did.  Upon his return home, during a routine doctor appointment he mentioned his unusual experience.  One test led to another and our world forever changed with a devastating cancer diagnosis.

Bob has stage 4 lung cancer that has metastasized to his brain, spinal cord, lymph nodes, and adrenal glands. With treatment, he has only been given a year to live.

Bob started immunotherapy in December and goes in every 3 weeks for subsequent treatments.  As long as it continues to slow the cancer growth, he will continue to seek treatment for the rest of his life.  On New Year's Eve, he had a Gamma Knife surgery on his brain to treat 4 lesions.  We were so thankful when we were told it was successful; however, since then 7 more tumors have appeared. He just completed 10 radiation treatments on his brain to treat those and we are awaiting the results.  He continues to take steroids for the brain lesions as well, which help with his negatively affected balance and cognitive skills.

Bob is currently pain free, thank God; however, he is very fatigued.  His incredibly low stamina is preventing him from engaging in activities, including walking.  Just a short six months ago, he was working out multiple times a week and carrying on like the rest of us.

Bob remains his natural graceful self- in good spirits, always up for video chatting Wilhelmina, joking about his bald head, wanting to know when we are taking him fishing again.  We are so blessed to call him our family.  We love him dearly.

Any contribution helps, as do prayers.  The goal here is to offer him some peace in as many areas as possible so he can spend what time and energy he has on his health and spirits.  Bob's wish is to go on a cruise from Seattle to Alaska.  A life lived on the water as an avid fly fisherman, he says watching the water pass by is his happy place.  After only 4 months, the medical bills are already unmanageable, but we are going to make this happen.  Your donation will help ease the financial stress during this very emotional time. I'll continue to regularly update on his progress.

Nobody should have to go through this and my heart breaks for all who do.  F*CK CANCER.

Godspeed and God Bless.  Love each other and please keep Bob in your prayers.
