Eric’s medical expenses
On 11/30 Eric, his wife Heather and son Connor were out camping and riding dirt bikes in the desert with friends when things took a turn. Eric was out on a ride when he hit a bump, lost control of his bike and fell going 40-50mph. Luckily there were witnesses close by and they came to his aid. They dispatched 911 since he was unable to stand, and he was flown into Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Eric was found to have a few fractured ribs and an unstable L1 fracture that they said was pinching his spinal cord. He was taken into emergent surgery that night where they decompressed his spine, removed a clot, and removed fragments of his bone. Eric is having minimal feeling to both feet hand we are all hoping this will return after the swelling from his trauma. He is able to move both legs and has fairly normal feeling down to his knees. Eric will be going in for a second surgery at some point 12/2 to have his spine stabilized with rods and screws from T11 to L3. He has a long road of recovery ahead of him. They estimate him being in the hospital for at least 2 weeks and then will have rehab, including lots of physical therapy.
Eric has always been very active and enjoyed being outdoors. He enjoys hiking, surfing, snowboarding, riding dirt bikes, and most importantly playing with his young son. Eric has a long road of recovery ahead of him and I’m starting this GoFundMe to hopefully help some of his financial worries. This could be completely life changing at worse and life altering at best.
