Animals Lost and Found in Gloucestershire, UK

Could you spare just £1?

It’s been an extraordinary summer so far. Not just the lovely weather we have had but when it comes to our feline friends we have been absolutely inundated. As a group of local animal lovers we never like turn away an animal in need…but like with most animal welfare groups there are limits and sadly we have reached ours.

We are simply shall we say animal enthusiasts! Trying to do what we can to better the lives of the local animals in need we encounter. We don’t receive sponsorship like some, we don't have big fancy centres and loads of staff (in fact we have none, we are all volunteers), we dip into our own pockets and we’ve run some somewhat successful fundraising events in the past. But they take time and money to organise which is something we just don’t have at present. We have always somehow managed to figure things out but with heavy hearts are asking for your help or we may simply not be able to continue.

By way of update, in the last 36 hours alone we have taken in 6 cats, 4 kittens and of the 6 cats been blessed with 6 more kittens! This is on top of the cats and kittens we have already in care (19 kittens alone was my last update!) We have been asked to help with several other possible strays, people asking if we can take in their feline family due to various changes in circumstances and many of whom need medical attention. Sadly we may now have to say no. A word we don’t like to use.

We’ve also had some heart wrenching situations to deal with like poor Meghan who was brought in recently and we now believe to have been dumped due to a visible ailment. Whilst she has undergone surgery and received the best vet treatment in our care, sadly she has been given just 6 months left of her short life. She is the sweetest little girl and deserved so much more from this world. Luckily we've found her an amazing foster family to live out her days and we will support her to the end as peacefully and comfortably as possible.

So our plea to you is:

Firstly, could you please share any of the cats and kittens that we have come up for adoption? We will be reposting a few and letting you know about some of the newcomers on our Animals Lost and Found In Gloucestershire UK Facebook page. While we have done everything we can thus far to give them the best start to their new happy lives it’s not ideal them staying in foster they deserve to find their forever homes. For some reason people don’t seem to be adopting at the moment and we have quite a few absolutely gorgeous longer term rescues with us as well. I am absolutely gobsmacked they haven’t been snatched up!

Secondly, the part I am always reluctant about and we always try to find ways around, funding. 100% of any money we have donated, whether it be via a fundraiser or a rehoming fee, gets put back into what we do. With all these kittens who will need neutering and chipping in the coming weeks that alone is a big ask! But it's a necessity if we are to do our part in breaking this vicious cycle. We then also have the likes of Meghan and a few others who have had quite costly treatments, some of whom have been rehomed and we have committed to the ongoing care of and then the general ongoing costs of the cats in our care. This doesn’t include the possibility of continuing and helping ones on the ‘list’ or whom we aren’t even aware of yet….

On the plus side, we do have 10 smashing new modern fully equipped pens waiting to go up! This will also help loads in our ability to help more but again is a costly exercise and they will simply have to stay put until the funds are available to get them up. Even if we could just get 5 up for now that would be amazing! Especially with winter soon upon us.

If you could please spread the word if you know anyone looking to adopt or who may be able to be convinced! We would be eternally grateful.

And finally, if everyone on this page could even spare just £1, the difference and impact that could make on these animals lives is indescribable and means that all of you are in turn helping our community of animals in need. The best feeling in the world, surely?!

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your continued support! And lots of love from two of our new very thankful arrivals!
