Love For Liam

Hi, my name is Lyndsey. I’m fundraising for my cousin Liam Patterson-Crum and his family. Liam is a very happy, funny, independent, and strong-willed 10 year old. In spite of the many challenges Liam has overcome, he has accomplished a lot, such as being awarded the US House of Representatives Student of the Month, making YouTube videos, dancing, swimming, and participating in many Special Olympics sports.

Liam was born with DiGeorge syndrome and 1q21.1 microdeletion syndrome. He’s the only person medically know to have both of these combined, and he has needed unique medical care and procedures designed specifically for him throughout his life.

Last week, Liam went in for surgery to address his severe tracheolmalacia and bronchomalacia, in hopes to open his airway and live a more active life. The procedure did not go as planned. Rather than breathing with more ease, he is now relying on a ventilator to breathe post surgery. Currently, Liam’s team of doctors is continuing to gather information on him in order to develop a plan to improve his current quality of life. The doctors are unsure when Liam will be able to go home. They speculate anywhere from multiple weeks to multiple months.

The money raised will be used to help support the family in meeting their financial needs, so they can continue to live at the hospital with Liam in order to ease his anxiety and provide the comfort he needs during his undetermined length of stay.
