Marshall and Millions Memorial Bench

Donation protected
We are appealing for donations to establish a meaningful tribute to Louie's two beloved dogs, Marshall and Millions, who were tragically killed by the Metropolitan Police in London on May 7, 2023. This sorrowful event has touched the hearts of many around the world. Louie fears that his cherished companions may be lost to time. It is essential that we act to preserve their memory; these dogs deserve recognition. Acknowledging the importance of this tribute, we contacted Tanya Russell, the talented artist responsible for the sculpture of the iconic street cat, Bob. Tanya has generously committed to assisting us in this endeavour.

Our team leader, Tracey, met with Tanya to create an initial design that captures our aspiration for a bench decorated with sculptures. This design includes two trees that will flower every May in celebration of our anniversaries. We also expressed our desire for a water fountain that dogs can use while exercising. Furthermore, we aim to plant two rose bushes named in honour of Marshall and Millions within the landscaping layout.

Tanya and her husband Charles grasped our intentions thoroughly and were impressed by the detailed nature of the sketch. The meeting ended on a high note. Tanya is considering the possibility of crafting life-size sculptures that replicate the iconic scene of the dogs on the tube train with Louie.

We have received complete authorization from the local council to advance our plans at the chosen location in Bartlett Park E14. The park is managed by an attendant who guarantees its closure and safety at night. A horticulturist is dedicated to maintaining the trees and roses, and there is a lovely café located within the park for visitors to enjoy.

The complete expenditure for this project is over £97,000. We are optimistic about our ability to secure this funding through crowdfunding campaigns, scheduled fundraising events, and various charitable initiatives.

If we surpass our fundraising goal, any extra contributions will be directed to the charity Dogs on the Streets. This incredible organization has been instrumental in providing Louie with vital assistance and a safe haven. Moreover, they have successfully raised funds to form an exceptional legal team focused on advocating for justice for his beloved pets.

Tanya has created the watercolour to visually depict the project's design.

We hold the view that Louie merits this tribute for his treasured four-legged friends. This act will give him the reassurance that Marshall and Millions will always be held dear in our hearts. We are confident that this elegant bench will enrich the community, providing a space for people worldwide to gather and pay tribute to their memory. Louie and Tanya will work together closely to enhance the project's intricate elements. Any contribution, big or small, would be sincerely appreciated. Your support will aid us in creating a lasting homage to Marshall and Millions, two deserving dogs who should never be forgotten.
