Dominican Republic Mission Trip

As many of you know, I am a 2nd year dental student at the University of Pittsburgh. In May, I will be going on a weeklong trip to the Dominican Republic through the mission organization Bright Island Outreach. To date, Bright Island Outreach has provided free dental care to more than 6,000 patients in the Dominican Republic. While on the trip, I will be volunteering at a dental clinic to personally provide cleanings, fillings, extractions, and other dental procedures to patients without access to dental care. I will be working alongside practicing dentists who are also volunteering their time for this cause.

In undergrad, I participated in a medical mission trip to Peru, which was made possible by the generous donations of friends and family. This was an extremely eye-opening trip that allowed me to help those lacking access to healthcare. I am anticipating a similar experience in the Dominican, and in addition to helping those in need,  this trip will be clinically valuable as it will prepare me to treat my own patients at school.

I will be fundraising for the trip with Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity, however the cost is over $1500. I am asking for your generosity once again to make this trip possible. The patients we will be seeing are in dire need of dental care, and with your support, I will be able to help them. Every donation, however small, will make a large difference in someone’s life.
