After a few weeks from hell, it’s official that Pete and Denise are living a parent's worst nightmare.
Dalton was initially brought to the emergency room after suffering a massive seizure on Sunday, December 4th. He was later released with the thought that he was developing adolescent epilepsy. At this point in his life, this was devastating news considering he was getting ready to go away for college and be away from Denise and Pete with this scary NEW diagnosis.
Dalton was recently accepted into Florida Gulf Coast University starting January 9th with his freshman class.
Little did we know that this bad dream was about to turn into something we never imagined.
Dalton went for a follow-up with his primary doctor following being released from the hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors found a large mass on his neck and an abnormal thyroid. After a whirlwind of tests (MRI, U/S, CT scans and blood work) they found 5 additional masses in Dalton's lungs. The doctors then advised to send Dalton back to the emergency room and this time he was sent to the University of Miami. All of Dalton's specialists and internal medicine doctors are concerned that this could be a case of the masses spreading and has the possibility of potentially being cancer.
UM admitted Dalton immediately and began to run even more tests and MRI of his brain to rule out brain tumors, lesions and abnormalities of the brain. His brain was cleared of all.
Now Dalton is currently waiting for a biopsy of the neck, thyroid and lung masses. UM has discharged Dalton to rest at home. This week, he will be going back and forth to have all biopsies performed. UM has insured Denise and Pete that Dalton is in the best hands.
While we do not have a definitive diagnosis here is what we do know :
All of Daltons treatments and surgeries will need to be done at University of Miami Hospital.
Denise and Pete will have to take turns leaving and being absent from work to be able to commute with him back and forth and all the while trying to maintain being full-time parents to their two younger children, Kameron and Kaia.
Medical expenses are already piling up, with both Denise and Pete being in/out of work at the moment and life becomes quite expensive really quickly as we all know.
We are asking everyone to pray for all of them during this time of the unknown. If you feel it in your hearts and would like to help or support Denise and Pete as they navigate this new scary journey that they are about to embark on... We ask for prayers first and foremost, but please feel free to donate if you can. We are beyond grateful to everyone's prayers, love, and support of this great family.
We will continue to update everyone as we know more about Dalton and his diagnosis.
