Help Adam Lenz and his family

Donation protected
On July 1, 2014, a little over thirteen months ago, our son Adam had an accident and suffered an anoxic brain injury. Initially he was in a coma and spent an extended period in the ICU. Since that time it has been a repeating cycle of skilled nursing facilities, ER visits, back to the ICU and hospital stays. ( for a more complete journal of the past year go to www.caringbridge.org to read Adam’s story). This has been an emotional and trying time to say the least. But, through it all, Adam continues to fight for his life.
We now have an extraordinary opportunity to send Adam to TIRR Memorial Hermann – The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research in Houston, TX. This facility is dedicated to and specializes in the rehab of patients with brain injuries. Adam is minimally conscious and needs this type of advanced care to bring him to the next level.
Here’s the challenge: Adam’s wife, Britain, lives in St. Louis, MO with their two kids. Ryan, who is 4 and Max who is 11 months (yes, do the math. Max was born AFTER Adam’s accident – tough stuff, huh?) The TIRR program requires family participation and involvement in the rehab process – three hours a day is ideal. Adam’s move to TX means Britain will have to find temporary housing; for how long we just don’t know yet. She’ll have to find childcare for the kids while she’s at TIRR with Adam. Another expense. Also, there may be return trips to St. Louis, plus ongoing household expenses in St. Louis.  Also,  it may be necessary for mom and dad, or brother Lou to travel to Houston to be involved in the rehab therapy.
There are so many unknowns at the moment and we have no idea of how much money Britain will need. Who can say? But we do know that we don’t want money to be an issue or cause her to not be with her husband – and it is important that Britain be with Adam. Every time she visits him, when he hears her voice, he turns his head. She is the connection he needs.
Thank you in advance for any contribution you can make to facilitate this next phase of the journey. We know God has made a way to restoration where there seemed to be no way. We continue to trust Him each day for what is best for Adam and his family – won’t you join us?
