Unfortunately, there are some new findings that will make it harder for Lily to overcome. We want to thank everybody for their prayers and their generosity but at this point we're going to stop the GoFundMe and with very heavy hearts we will be saying goodbye to Lily tomorrow
Our little 13-year-old Lily is fighting a terrible case of pneumonia and pulmonary hypertension. Even with hard-hitting broad-spectrum IV antibiotics, blood pressure and anti-clotting medications, and being in an oxygen chamber for multiple days, she is not responding the way we would like. She also wouldn’t eat, so the veterinary team needed to place a nasal gastric tube to get her nutrition.
The good news? Every time we go to visit her, she’s brighter and more alert. She’ll twirl in her oxygen chamber and get mad that we aren’t taking her out.
The bad news? Her respiratory effort and rate are much higher than we would want after 4 days of treatment. But, there is reason to believe that she just needs more time. The doctors say sometimes the truth is they need longer-term supportive care that can only be provided in the hospital.
Little Lily is not ready to give up, and neither are we. However, oxygen dependency is not something that we can treat at home. We need to keep her at the hospital but have exhausted our personal finances and Care Credit, but it is not enough to cover her continued care.
We never thought we would be in this position, but we are reaching out to friends, family, and our community to help us continue to pay for Lily’s treatments.
This little girl puts a smile on every face she meets. She is sweet and loving, funny and spunky. How could we make the decision to say goodbye, to give up on our little girl, when there’s reasonable hope she just needs more time with supportive care and treatment? How could we put her to sleep when she is bright, alert, twirling, and barking when we get to visit her? She needs more time, and we need your help to give it to her.
Please consider donating to Lily’s GoFundMe so we can continue her care and give her a real chance to fight this.
