Raising money for Remi
Donation protected
Hello all, my name is Jennifer (Katie’s mom) and I have made a gofundme for the Whildon family to try and raise money for their sweet and feisty dog Remi.
Katie and Ken are both amazing individuals who care so much about all of us, which makes this even harder for them to ask for help on their own. Katie has recently graduated from nursing school and unfortunately has not yet been working as she is approaching her boards, leaving Ken to be the only financial support person at this time. Unfortunately, Remi does not have pet insurance and the costs of her recent surgeries have been over $17,000 thus far, as she is currently (as I write this) undergoing a second one at this time leaving only more of a financial burden for this young couple to carry.
Those of you who know Remi know she is full of surprises, if you haven’t had the opportunity to meet her, I am sure you’ve definitely heard some crazy stories about the tubby Remi Jo and all of her adventures. She has gone through so much at only 5 years young and we know in our hearts this is not her time yet.
Katie and Ken are by far the best fur parents you will ever come across. Whether it’s going the extra mile to make all four of their dogs a different special warm meal, each of them getting the exact same amount of presents to open on a Christmas morning, getting them all in their “matching pajamas” or every over the top birthday photoshoot just because their mom wanted the picture to hold on to for memories. Their pets are their family, their kids, their whole lives.
I truly don’t know what else to do for them at this point. So I am asking if you can please help get this strong girl home and out chasing after her tennis ball again.
Remis Story:
Remi suffers from having severe anxiety, on Friday evening (9/9/22) she ingested quite a few pieces of one of her toys. After she had an episodes of vomiting pieces up Saturday, Katie and Ken knew something was off with their fur baby. Remi was then taken to Mount Laurel Animal Hospital where she underwent an emergency foreign body removal Sunday. It was found that she had an obstruction in her stomach and small intestines. This surgery alone cost them over $6,000! Remi was very anxious after this surgery, she was not taking being away from home well. She refused to eat and drink in the hospital, her anxiety really interfered with her recovery no matter the medication she was put on.
Monday evening her IV catheter came out and the doctors thought it would be best for her to come home that night to help relax her. Which it did at first. Soon as she got home to her own fur babies and fur brother you could see the difference in her body and the way she acted. She was so happy and full of light and hope. Shortly after there was no more improvement, Remi refused to eat again and wouldn’t even go outside.
Thursday morning (today) when Remi woke up these frightened parents knew once again this wasn’t a good sign, she had two episodes of vomiting which after an abdominal surgery is not good, a fever, excessive drooling and a very swollen abdomen. Taken right back to the animal hospital they were able to determine that this young girl has now gone septic. Having dehiscence, her incisions opened up and have been leaking fluid into her abdominal cavity causing the bacteria to attack her body. Without hesitation Katie and Ken advised them to do whatever they could do to save Remis life. Even with her chances of survival they are still full of so much hope. Sadly, the cost of her second surgery will be greatly over $11,000. Yes this is astronomical, but if you have ever been in a situation where it is life or death, you can only understand the importance of wanting to do everything you can for your baby.
Currently we are still awaiting a call to see how surgery went and what we are to expect. I plan on updating this page every step of the way to inform you all of Remi girls Recovery.
So I ask if you could please help their baby girl. Any amount is not too little, or even a prayer. If you have a pet, you know they are family. Remi will have a long battle of recovery ahead of her but Katie and Ken, as well as all of us would never give up on getting Remi back to a good health.
Thank you in advanced for your love, prayers, support, and donations.
