3 1/2 years ago, Amy was hit by a car while crossing the street. This resulted in a traumatic brain injury and she was not expected to survive that first night. The first two years Amy was in a semi- comatose state. Over this last year, Amy has made great strides. She recently had her tracheotomy removed, which they said would never happen, she follows small commands, she smiles at people when they enter her room, and when I am in a silly mood and making jokes, she laughs out loud at my silliness. I attribute these milestones due to in the last year her moving to a facility close to home where I am able to see her almost daily, and a very caring staff. I believe personal interactions are vital to her progress. Because of the progress she has made I would now be able to take Amy out of the facility to bring her home for the day and have her attend family gatherings. Of course, this would require a handicap van to make that possible. I am humbly asking for help in making this happen and I truly appreciate all of the prayers that she has received over the last years that have gotten her to where she is today.
Thank you,
Jackie
