Hi everyone, my name is Shanaya.

My mum is currently in hospital in Grenada fighting a severe foot and ankle infection that rapidly became life-threatening. What started as swelling progressed into a serious infection, and she has since developed sepsis, meaning the infection has entered her bloodstream.

She has already undergone multiple emergency surgeries to remove infected tissue, and doctors are continuing treatment in an effort to stop the infection from spreading further and to save her life. She remains awake and fighting, but her condition is still very serious, and there is a risk that further surgery including possible amputation may be needed if the infection cannot be controlled.

Being based in the UK, it has been incredibly distressing to go through this from afar while she faces this alone. The medical costs for surgery, hospital care, IV antibiotics, wound treatment, and monitoring are rapidly increasing. I am also trying to raise funds so I can travel to Grenada to be with her and support her recovery once doctors say it is safe.

We are asking for help to cover:

• Medical supplies and recovery support

• Travel costs so I can be with her during this critical time
