Elizabeth Hicks:  Room Mom, Party Organizer, Field Trip Chaperone, Play Date Host.  She is a staple at Mesnier and Gotsch and we are lucky to have her!  She has done all this through her Stage IV non small cell lung cancer diagnosis.  She was diagnosed in 2012 just five months after her 2nd son was born.  Her (adorable, sweet) boys are now in 2nd and 4th grade, and we're lucky to have them too.  But if you ask Liz she'll say (literally say - I have it in a text), "We appreciate everything everyone has already done for us, and we're so grateful to have this gift of time."   Liz is a helper.  We all know the type.  The big hearted, do for everyone, trouble-accepting-help-from-other-people type.   I, and I'm sure many others, was searching for a way to help and landed here.  She is hesitant (see above: previously stated trouble-accepting-help) because the Hicks are so grateful for the love and support they have received from the community already. Liz's cancer is no longer responding to treatments and there are new tumor growths.  She is now strictly on pain medication and being seen by hospice.   It's our turn now.  Let's try to care for her as she has cared for our kids and our community.  Liz, Ben, Oliver, and Charlie, we love you.
