Diane needs our help!

On August 20th, through the night, she suffered multiple strokes (on both sides of her brain). She was rushed to Palos Hospital by ambulance but she had so many other things going on that they were not equipped to take care of her. They transferred her again by ambulance to Northwestern University Hospital. She was first in a Telemetry room but things went very wrong and she had another series of small strokes and had to be moved to Intensive Care.

After a lot of testing, the doctors planned to go into her arteries and open the blockages. She was scheduled for a three-hour “procedure” on Monday, the 29th of August. This turned into an eight-hour operation and unfortunately, they ran into problems and they were not able to open the blockages.

When she first went into the hospital, she had no use of any of her left side and very little use of the right. She has regained the use of her right side, thank God and she has feeling on the left but has no movement at all. There is also lack of blood flow behind her left eye so she cannot see out of her left eye.

They have her on some kind of intravenous medicine to try to break down the clots but really, it is just a waiting game The doctors have told her that with rehab, she should get her left side back but that is only as long as things go well with the medicine and therapy and that she does not relapse and have any more strokes.

The bottom line is, this is going to be a long journey for her and she will need all of the help she can get.
