Our Mom’s Cancer Battle

Our parents have worked their whole life with 1 main goal; a stress free retirement spent with their children & spoiling their grand & great grandchildren. That dream was put in jeopardy in January of 2015 when mom was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. In April of that year, after swift and harsh medical treatments, she opted for a radical mastectomy to include 12 additional lymph nodes to best help her chances at living out a happy healthy life. And it worked! She was cancer free for 3 years & officially retired during that timeframe too!

Then in July of 2018 we got the horrible news the cancer had not only returned but had fully metastasized to her bones. We watched her enter the fight of her life with grace, hope, and somehow seemingly fearless (no doubt to shelter us from our fears). The past 3 years have been filled with painful surgeries (replacing bones with titanium rods to keep them from breaking) and harsh treatments of every kind of chemotherapy and radiation treatment on the market. None of which have worked.

Her doctors officially gave up 2 months ago, telling us its time to call in hospice.

Well, she has not given up. And we definitely have not given up.

And as long as she is fighting, we won’t ever give up!

Through extensive research we found an immunotherapy treatment for her specific needs & helped her successfully complete her first round of treatments earlier this month! This consisted of 12 intense straight days of blood therapy T-Cell treatments, totalling nearly $30,000.

We’ve had a couple of great weeks with mom as she recovers from round 1.

But now it’s time for round 2 (which will be twice as intensive as round 1) & will include 3 weeks in Santa Barbara for aggressive T-Cell immunotherapy, at a cost of $26,000+, and this doesn’t include food & lodging this time around.

We’ve watched our mom & dad work their whole lives towards their retirement goals and dreams, only to watch them now spend that retirement towards my moms cancer battle. Although it’s totally worth every penny spent, it’s hard to watch & now know there’s not enough left currently to fully cover this next round of expenses.

So here we are, reaching out to family, friends, & anyone else who’ll listen asking for help. Any help! Every dollar is incredibly appreciated and 100% of anything donated will go directly towards her next round(s) of immunotherapy treatment and travel expenses. She has not stopped fighting. So neither will we!
