Mr. Neil Lax is a Bluffton original. He has lived on Oyster Street in Bluffton for over 40 years.
Neil is a neighbor who would give the shirt off his back to help someone. He is a gifted wood
worker and creates unique pieces from repurposed wood. He is most known for his oyster knivesand walking canes. He has given away much more than he sales.
Neil is a man who requires little material things. A good meal, his doggie companion Half Pint, a
warm fire, and the company of friends.
Recently Neil suffered from a stroke. Although he made a remarkable recovery he had suffered
some complications which have rendered him home bound and in need of home care. He needs
assistance with preparation of meals, light housekeeping, transportation, and bathing. The goal is to help keep him in his home. Which is why a group of neighbors are reaching out.
Our goal is to raise about $3000.00 to pay for home care until he can be independent. We would
also like to purchase a lift chair for him to make it safe for him to get up from a chair to a standing
position. In addition to Go Fund Me we have contacted other resources to help with home
repairs. His house needs a new roof and other upgrades.
2 John:6 says- Love means doing what God has commanded us, and He has commanded us to
love one another, just as you heard from the beginning...How little it would take to reach our
goal and help Neil stay where he is happy.
Any donation would help. From $5.00 to whatever you could do would be so appreciated. God
Bless.
