Hello, my name is Nicole and I am asking for help for my dearest father, Steve Carroll. Dad is in desperate need of a heart transplant. He is currently going through lots of testing at Baylor Scott & White hospital in Dallas. This hospital is 200 miles from home and the hospital is requiring that dad stays within a 15-minute drive of the hospital during this time. Dad’s medical issues began when he was just 32 years old. Since that time he’s had 9 heart attacks, 19 stints, a triple bypass, and a pacemaker/defibrillator placed. Despite his health, Dad gives of himself as much as he can. Dad was a co-owner of an Abilene Sonic location until his health took a turn for the worse and he could no longer work. Over the years Dad and mom, Cathy, have been foster parents to 86 children, they believed in keeping siblings together and many of their foster children were sibling groups. Dad and mom were blessed to adopt a sibling group of three, as a result, they have 5 children, they still have a teenage son at home and a 2-year-old granddaughter who is the most precious person on earth to dad. Dad has been deeply involved in local scouting, he’s been a Cub Master & an Assistant Cub Master. He is currently the Charter Organizational Rep. In 2019 he was honored with the District Award of Merit for all that he has done in scouting on the local level. Dad is a friend to all, a dad to so many, and a Pop-pop to one precious little girl he desperately wants to see grow up. Mom and dad are both disabled and living on Social Security Disability income. The cost of having to pay their bills at home and find somewhere to live near the hospital for the foreseeable future has become a financial burden that they can not possibly cover. Dad also has to pay over $6,000 out of pocket for the transplant. Every dollar will help, we have set a goal of $35,000 to pay medical bills and for the housing in Dallas while dad goes through testing and treatment on his heart; and while he waits for a transplant. We are so grateful to everyone who’s helped us on this journey so far, we don’t know where we’d be without you. If there are any donations left over, we plan on blessing other families that need them.
Thank you & God Bless
