Tori (Lamp) Wood Road to Rio

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Tori and I am a diver from Knoxville, TN (currently residing in Milwaukee) and a Lady Vol for life. I competed for the University of Tennessee from 2009-2014 and attended Bearden High School prior. Currently I am on the USA National Team and Olympic Performance Squad training with the goal to make the 2016 Olympic Team. With this goal in mind, I am asking for your support. 

Over the last year and a half I graduated college from the University of Tennessee, got married, and moved to Milwaukee, WI. Since moving to Milwaukee I have been working 45-55 hours a week while trying to train at an elite level for various diving competitions. Even though I have not had the most consistent training due to scheduling conflicts with work, I was still able to finish fourth at the Mexican Grand Prix earlier this year. 

With less than a year until the Olympics I have made the decision to cut down on the amount of hours I will be working to truly focus on diving and give it everything I have. This will mean I will have more time to train in the pool, weight room, and also more time to do physical therapy to recover more quickly. With the extra time to train and recover I will have the greatest chance to make this last year successful. 

Athletes around the world at my level are able to only focus on diving and do not work outside of training due to government funding. Unfortuantely, U.S. athletes do not receive this funding making it hard to continue training after college. 

The money that I receive would go to pay towards my training and travels to allow me to get the most preparation as we lead up to the 2016 Olympic Trials and Olympic Grames.
