Dartmoor Challenge 2025
Donation protected
AWASA have organised for teams to trek across the rugged Dartmoor terrain across two days, in support of two charities, Andy's Man Club and Yeovil FreeWheelers.
Last year a total of approximately 40km was hiked per team.
The Yeovil Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Service, also known as YFW Blood Bikes and Yeovil Freewheelers. Yeovil Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Service (Registered Charity Number: 299434).
This local charity consists of a dedicated group of volunteer bikers who provide critical out-of-hours deliveries for hospitals in Yeovil, Wincanton, and Dorchester. They are the oldest surviving blood bike group in the country, making over 1,800 deliveries last year alone. These include blood, platelets, medication, and essential equipment, saving the NHS over £200,000.
We are also fundraising for Andy’s Man Club. (Registered Charity Number: 1179647 ) Andy’s Man Club is named after Andrew Roberts, who tragically took his own life at 23 in early 2016. His family, unaware of his struggles, began exploring male suicide and mental health. They learned that suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK, largely due to cultural stigma. Andy’s Man Club works to break this stigma by offering free, weekly, judgment-free peer support groups where men can openly discuss their challenges.
