Dear Friends and Compassionate Supporters,
On July 9, 2024, our dear friend, Vamsi Vinayak (aged 29), an aspiring cinematographer, was involved in a tragic car accident on the outskirts of Hyderabad, India. The accident claimed one life, left two friends with minor injuries, and Vamsi critically injured.
Vamsi sustained a severe cervical spine injury at the C4-C5 level, resulting in quadriparesis—a condition causing weakness in all four limbs. He underwent an Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) surgery, utilizing an iliac graft and plate fixation under general anesthesia. By God's grace, the surgery was successful, stabilizing his condition. However, while his upper body shows slight responsiveness, his lower body remains paralyzed.
Vamsi's mother, a single parent with modest means, has enrolled him in a rehabilitation center for intensive physiotherapy, pushing her financial limits to provide the best care possible. She has been bearing the surgery and rehabilitation expenses for over four months, and now her financial situation has deteriorated significantly, leaving her in a desperate struggle to make ends meet.
The cost of Vamsi's rehabilitation is substantial, exceeding ₹200,000 (approximately $2,500 USD) per month. At this critical juncture, where he shows signs of improvement, discontinuing treatment is not an option.
Please join us in supporting Vamsi's fight to reclaim his life. Your kindness and compassion can make a world of difference.
