Zuleyma's Journey: From Job Loss to Hope

Hi, I’m Zuleyma. I was encouraged by my TikTok community to create one of these. To be honest, I held off for months just because I didn’t want to let people know my situation, have people feel bad for me, and also feel like I’m begging in some way. Simply, just overthinking the entire thing.

So, here I am. I’m going to try to summarize this the best I can. I was let go from work in 2023. As most know, I was living in Los Angeles by myself. I worked very hard for everything I had. I was able to pick up gigs here and there to make ends meet, but eventually, that died down. I wasn’t able to find work from Feb 2024-August, which caused me to not be able to pay full rent and bills. LA wasn’t presenting opportunities quick enough, so I had to pivot. Ultimately, I ended up finding work in San Diego, where I was driving back and forth from LA to San Diego just for work. Long story short, I had to give up my apartment. I currently moved to San Diego and was able to get a second job, which I don’t start until 1/6. I currently don’t have full funds for a new place, so this is where I have trouble asking for help. No amount is too small.
