Zulema Amaral

It is with great sorrow that we share the tragedy that our friend and colleague Lebdys Amaral is experiencing.

This past Sunday, Zulema Amaral and her mother, along with 25 other Cuban migrants, were making their way through Central America in search of a better life in America. After entering Mexico, near the Guatemalan border, the freight truck that was transporting them tragically lost control and overturned, resulting in the death of Zulema Amaral among 9 others.

Zulema Amaral was 15 years old and was taken from us too soon, but given the location and nature of the accident, it will not be easy to give the Amaral family closure. Unfortunately, all the grim responsibilities that come next will involve a financial burden to the family.

As a member of our community, we have our friend Lebdys Amaral, an incredibly inspiring mother, hard-working insurance professional, and the sister of Zulema. Lebdys will have to respond to this tragedy on her own and our intention is to make sure it does not feel that way.

We call on friends, colleagues, and the South Florida community to support one of our own during this difficult and truly tragic time. All proceeds from this gofundme will go towards helping Lebdys cover any incurred medical costs, funeral arrangements, legal fees as well as travel and lodging costs in Mexico.

Hoy con gran tristeza compartimos la tragedia de nuestra amiga y colega Ledbys Amaral.

El pasado domingo, Zulema Amaral y su madre, junto con otros 25 migrantes cubanos que se encontraban atravesando Mexico en busca de una vida mejor en los E.E.U.U., sufrieron un accidente en el camión que los transportaba, resultando en la muerte de Zulema Amaral y otras 9 personas.

Zulema Amaral tenía 15 años y se nos fue demasiado pronto. Dada la ubicación y la naturaleza del accidente, la familia Amaral tendrá que solventar muchas responsabilidades económicas.

Nuestra amiga Lebdys Amaral, es una madre increíble, una profesional de seguros inspiradora, y la hermana de Zulema. Lebdys tendrá que responder sola por esta tragedia y es nuestra intención asegurarnos de que no se sienta así, pues cuenta con nosotros.

Hacemos un llamado a todos nuestros amigos, colegas y a la comunidad del sur de la Florida para que apoyemos a nuestra amiga durante este momento tan difícil. Todo lo que se recaude via este gofundme ira a Lebdys para ayudarla a cubris gastos medicos, arreglos funerales, costos legales y gastos de viaje a Mexico.
