As most people know, on July 8th, Lori received the worst news she ever wanted to hear....breast cancer! She noticed a small lump in her left breast sometime in May. It would come and go with her period and never really bothered her. She started making contact with her Dr to further examine it but had no real reason for concern. She's 37. No family history. It seemed to change. And finally in June, it began to hurt. All of those stats are insignificant with breast cancer. When the pain worsened in June, she pushed to see her Dr ASAP and get a biopsy. It took ONE day for them to diagnose her.
Prior to this, her husband Tim lost his job and as a family they decided to take a huge leap and relocate to Florida. It was something that they have always wanted to do and it seemed like the proper time to do it. Tim left for Florida for a possible job offer the last weekend in June. Lori planned to join him with their children ASAP. Tim in fact did get the job. An amazing job opportunity for him and his family. Then Lori received her news. As a family, they decided that the best decision financially would be for him to stay there to provide for them while she stays here to fight the cancer with her family and friends.
Lori will stay put for the next 5-6 months to do Chemo. Then a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. Her cancer is contained to the breast but she refuses to ever go thru this ever again. All of her treatment is mostly covered under insurance but not completely. They will have several thousand to pay out of pocket not to mention travel expenses so that Tim can fly back and forth to be with his wife.
Any little bit to help this family would be appreciated!
