Our dear AJ suffered brain damage after an accidental overdose on Dec., 1, 2019. AJ knew he was an addict, he asked for and got help more than once, but unfortunately he relapsed yet again. Due to him not receiving immediate medical attention on Dec 1st his brain was without oxygen for too long.
I am so glad that his family did not give up hope when the doctors said that first day that he was totally brain dead ! This picture is AJ giving the love sign with no help, it was the first thing he did when I walked in the room just the other day !! He is forming words & sentences, although it is a struggle to project the sound. He twisted the cap off his bottle of milk on his own !! He is getting more and more control over his body as the days go by.
AJ is strong, he is a fighter and will not give up!
I am asking for donations to help his Dad & Grandma out financially during this time. Along with the added expenses of gas, food to eat out while camping out at the hospitals, they have incurred the expense of getting guardianship over AJ in order to care for his needs. And now with hopes to bring AJ home in the next month or so they will incur cost for a wheelchair ramp & God only knows what else at this time.
I have known AJ & his family since he was born, I think.
I call him 'AJ-son', because he is as a son to me. AJ and my Rob grew up together and AJ has stayed in contact with me over the years since Rob passed away. I miss his midnight phone calls to help him get through the night as he fought to say clean and fought with his depression. I miss hearing him say 'Momma, give me a Bible verse, I need something to hold onto. Can you text it to me so I can read it over and over?'
If you can give anything to help them it would truly be appreciated.
God bless and stay tuned for more updates on AJ !!!
