In 2011 Chris was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin’s mantle cell lymphoma and beat it with 6 months of chemotherapy and autologous transplant!!!! Chris had been in remission for 3 years!!
Chris and I were so very excited to start our lives together as a married couple and celebrate with our friends and family on July 3rd 2015!
Around the middle of May we noticed a lump on his spine, another week went by and a 2nd lump appeared, a few days later I noticed one more, for a total of 3. On June 29th we met with the primary care physician thinking the lumps were just cysts, The doctor performed a sonogram and called 30 min later referring us to his team at KU Medical Cancer Institute stating they thought it was a relapse of lymphoma.
Two days before our wedding we met with the doctor at KU and he confirmed it WAS lymphoma tumors and scheduled a PET scan and a consultation with a surgeon.
On July 3rd, 2015 Chris and I had the most amazing wedding ceremony and the best day we could've asked for!!
Just a week after the wedding on July 10th we met with the team at KU letting us know the terrible news that it most definitely was lymphoma. The PET scan showed that it is located in his neck and the tumors were very "hot" and it was very aggressive. Dr. Alley performed the surgery on July 16th to remove the tumors and the surgery went well!
On July 20th Chris and I met with the team at KU to get an official diagnosis and treatment plan. Chris has been diagnosed with non- Hodgkin’s mantle cell lymphoma once again. The doctor informed us it is very aggressive and will start attacking other organs if they don't act quickly. On July 27th Chris will start chemotherapy and the team is planning to perform an Allogeneic Stem Cell transplant hopefully at the beginning of September if all goes well.
I know we have an amazing team working with us at the University of Kansas Hospital and we have faith and trust that he will beat this once and for all!!!
We are asking for prayers and support to get us through this trying time so we can enjoy being a healthy married couple and enjoy our 5 beautiful children!!
