Help CJ with his recovery

Donation protected
As many know, and for those who were not aware, my brother, C.J. Hamm, was in a bad car accident in September. He was hospitalized for about a month, underwent two procedures to put together his pelvis and femur, in addition to other less severe injuries. He has not been able to walk since.

He will probably be mad at me for doing this, as he has always said he would never go for anything like this. He considers it begging, embarrassing and shameful. However, he has reached a precarious point in his recovery and financial situation. He needs some help, that he will never ask for, and this is the only way I could come up with.

C.J. has applied for health insurance, and denied, three times. He has had to pay for doctor’s visits, therapy, medication, etc., out of pocket. He has incurred over $100,000 in medical bills already, with that number still growing. His recovery has been stalled since he experienced and was diagnosed with chronic Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), and Peripheral neuropathy as a result of nerve bundles severed/injured near the spine. It started in his injured foot/leg and has now begun to spread throughout his other extremities. As long as these conditions go untreated, they will continue to get worse rather than get him up and walking, working, driving, and living somewhat of a normal life.

The problem is, no one will treat these afflictions without insurance and he cannot afford to pay for them.

Our family (and friends, thank you) has/have helped in every way possible and continue to do so, unfortunately, with C.J.’s accident coming on the heels of our mother’s sudden major health issues and need for continuous care, all of our resources have been depleted over the last two to three years. Thus, we find ourselves to this point.

For those that know him well, C.J. has done his best to maintain his light-hearted disposition throughout this ordeal. However it has become apparent that it has started to affect him in more ways than physically, or that he would ever admit to, especially the financial strain. I mean, if you REALLY know him, he didn’t even ask for a single pair of sneakers for Christmas! Just grocery gift cards. And that’s when I KNEW it was worse than we all thought.

I, and my family, are very thankful for any help you can provide, even just a quick mention or share. As we are all well aware that a lot of people are experiencing tough times, if you can not or choose not, we also fully understand.

Thank you,

Casey Hamm
