Hello friends and family. I am reaching out to everyone for help. I cannot express how emotionally difficult it's been for me and my family. I was told about this site to help my family fiancially and inform everyone as to what they have been going through. I appreciate you taking the time to read through my family story.
My dad, Thomas Yates has recently been diagnosed with CMML (Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia)
15 years ago he fought Acute Myeloid Leukemia by harvesting his own bone marrow transplant. The only option to survive from CMML is a stem cell transplant he will need from a match in the national data registry.Unfortunately my dad has no marrow matches with his three brothers and one sister. He checked himself into the emergency room beginning of August at St. Mary's Hospital after coughing up blood and legs turning purple due to over swelling. His immune system had no fight left to keep him safe from bacteria and diseases. He had developed severe double pheumonia. They checked him in right away and started treating him very seriously. Days later he was transferred to USC Norris cancer center in LA to meet with the chosen doctor to help find out what was wrong and find options to save my dad.
We are on a long road ahead of us and if there are no matches for my dads transplant he is given 15-20 months.
I am only reaching out because he is exhausted, depressed, and feels like the end is near.
Both my parents are battling Cancer and drowning in Medical expenses. I came home from work to take care of what I can to make things easier. I am seeing how difficult it is for their everyday life.
Every single morning I take my dad to draw blood for the doctors to keep an eye on his blood cell counts. He and my mother go to Chemo every month.
2 years ago dad had an emergency surgery on his head for the doctor discovered a massive tumor on his left frontal lobe.
He is a survivor and on top of all he has sadly been through he is an amazing friend, husband, brother and FATHER. He has three childeren with my mother and has raised us to be strong individuals. I am asking for help. Help for my parents to keep afloat and fight this journey yet again. This is extremely emotional for me personally, I try to keep it together but thinking that my sister, brother and I might not have the chance to have my dad around when we are just starting out our lives makes everything harder. We are in for the fight 100% and are so lucky to have these two people as our parents. We love them with all our hearts.
Cancer sucks and we will kick its butt no matter how many times it comes knockin!!!!!
