Cody’s Medical Costs

As lots of you know I’ve been dealing with a neurological disorder for a long time now that has cost me a lot to get help for. Now, I have another health scare that may turn out to be even more expensive. I’m having severe abdominal symptoms that I urgently need to get testing for. My doctor suspects I may have ulcerative colitis, chron’s disease or even cancer, and getting diagnosed and treated quickly is vital for all of those issues. The problem is that I don’t have insurance that will pay for the tests or treatments I will need. I’ve lost my job due to my disability and now with my new issues I’ve been bedridden almost 24/7 and my job search is on halt. After all the hard work I put into branching out on my own and building a life here in Chicago, I’m no longer able to support myself and will lose my apartment next month. I’ve been fighting this battle with my health for four years now. I’ve had to drop out of college and lost two jobs because of it. I want to give up so bad but I can’t. So I’m asking for help as a last resort, something I’ve been too embarrassed to do in the past. What’s hardest for me is having to fight two battles at once—the battle inside my own body of dealing with the pain and limitations associated with my health problems, and the financial and logistical battle of getting treatment. With your help I can alleviate one of those battles.

What the money will be used for:

-Paying off almost $1,000 in existing medical bills

-Paying for the tests and procedures I need, which could range from $1,000-4,000

-Keeping up with other expenses while I’m out of work getting treatment, such as groceries and rent

-Potentially traveling to an out of state doctor

-Potential emergency room visit if my symptoms continue getting worse
