Help Leah Hear

Donation protected
Leah was born deaf in both ears due to a genetic condition. She was fitted with hearing aids at a very young age. They unfortunately made no improvements to her hearing. She was blessed to be approved for cochlear implant surgery in her left ear at the age of 1. From the moment her implant was turned on her life changed. She began to recognize sounds and eventually use words. Her speech improved gradually over the years and with the help of therapy and an amazing school here in Jacksonville, Leah has grown to be the amazingly energetic, unique and talkative 5 year old that she is today. Recently Leah's processor, the outer piece of her implant that allows her to hear, has malfunctioned. Unfortunately we discovered that the unit has fallen out of warranty and insurance will only cover part of the replacement/upgrade. We are asking for any help to cover the out of pocket cost of replacement parts for her implant. Leah is currently using her backup processor but when it fails too, she will have no other means of hearing. Leah will hopefully be implanted in her right ear in the future so that she can have full access to the sounds around her. We thank you for all your support and love.
