1 year ago we lost an amazing person who was an amazing husband and father to our close friends, Rachel, Flynn & Oscar, his name is James McDermott.

James's life could have been saved if the Royal Sussex County Hospital had an ECMO machine—an advanced life-support device. ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) temporarily takes over the function of the heart and lungs. The Royal Sussex County Hospital does not have one of these......yet!! So, Sarah and I are trying to raise the remaining funds to go towards buying one for the Royal Sussex County Hospital and to save some lives.

We will also be raising funds for the amazing Martlets Hospice who provide specialised palliative and end-of-life care for people with terminal illnesses. This charity is close to the heart of many thousands of local Sussex families including Sarah and I.

To do this Sarah and I will be running the Brighton Half Marathon on 1st March 2026 and then running the Barcelona Marathon on 15th March 2026.

All funds raised will be split between the 2 causes and 100% of the money raised will be shared between them both.

As well as raising funds from friends and family Sarah and I will also be donating money from our 2 local pubs, The Cleveland Arms and The Chimney House!!

If you are able please give generously but if you cant then we ask if you can pass our request on and see if we can raise as much needed money as possible for these 2 amazing causes!!
