To know Mike was to love him. Truly the epitome of a good guy. He would do anything for those around him, and often did.
My best friend, D’Anna, met Mike in 1999 when they became roommates, along with a few other mutual friends they had. The two started spending more time together and, at some point, concluded that they were actually dating, but just didn’t realize it.
They were married shortly after & had their son, Mikey. Mike also played an integral role as a positive male figure in D’Anna’s older son, Christian’s, life from an early age.
Some of Mike’s favorite things included working on all things cars - anything old or ‘classic’ as he called it, race cars and dirt bikes. As evidenced by (2) of his tattoos (with plans for many more) featuring Pink Floyd, he was clearly a hardcore and lifelong fan. Mike also had an undying love for animals, especially dogs - taking in many rescue & foster pets over the years.
Of course, one of Mike’s greatest passions (and talents) was his knack for making amazing BBQ. Grilling delicious food for his friends and family was definitely his love language, even cooking for some of their friends’ most important life events like wedding rehearsal dinners, family parties, etc.
In the end, and WAY too soon, Mike’s long battle with kidney and liver disease ultimately got the best of him and his family said goodbye to him for the last time on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.
Of course, Mike will be in our hearts forever and remembered for the joy he brought to those around him.
I started this GoFundMe because I know that my best friend, D’Anna, and her sons have a lot of financial details to tie up and consider now that Mike has passed. For those who know D’Anna and/or knew Mike, their generosity towards others was unquestionable. They are the best people I know – the friends who always show up, the neighbors everyone wants and the people in this world who always do the right thing, even if not the easiest. They have always done so much for those around them and I know how much their family & friends, now, want to help.
