Breathing is something we all take for granted until you can't do it on your own anymore. Our sister Annie Brown, needs your support today to help her get a new set of lungs so she can breathe on her own again.
Annie's Story
In 2010, Annie was diagnosed with Scleroderma, a rare chronic, autoimmune disease that results in the hardening of your organs, skin and connective tissue. As a result of this debilitating disease, Annie has had to put her life on hold in order to put her health first.
Her condition over the years has become more and more complicated as she has been diagnosed with multiple diseases like fibromyalgia, Raynaud's disease and lung disease, just to name a few. Because of the physical challenges that Scleroderma and her other diseases present, Annie is no longer able to do many things that she loves--and is gifted in doing-like crafting hand-made cards, taking beautiful photos and singing. She has lost her ability to work and to do many things that you and I take for granted every day. Basic things like walking without struggling to breathe, standing to cook a meal, eating food, taking medications, holding her phone, putting shoes on, or even bathing are now a daily struggle for Annie.
She has been working hard to get her body as strong as possible by walking 3,000 steps a day with the assistance of oxygen. Annie meets with her doctors regularly and is now waiting and ready for her new lungs.
How You Can Help
Your donations are needed greatly to help Annie and our family through this life saving surgery. Your generous financial support will help pay for
• a support person to provide 24 hr care for Annie after surgery for at least 3 or 4 months. This will include making sure medications are taken on time, assisting with meals and basic hygiene care, helping with physiotherapy, etc.
• helping Annie get through the emotional struggles of surgery and keeping her motivated and encouraged before, during and after surgery for all her medical appointments and physiotherapy.
• transportation fees like gas and parking
• medical equipment, medications, medical ppe supplies that may not be covered by her disability plan.
• any other needs related to her lung transplant or complications from Scleroderma
If you are unable to support financially, we ask that you please keep Annie, and our family in your thoughts and prayers as we all take this giant step forward to help our sister, daughter and friend have a longer life. OR drop Annie some words of encouragement on the comments section.
More Life To Live
In spite of all the medications, appointments, infections, pain, and hospitalizations over these past 11+ years, Annie has remained ever cheerful, caring and courageous.
Annie still has a lot of life to live. She has dreams and experiences she wants to achieve in her life like seeing her nephews and niece grow up, traveling, learning a new skill and so much more.
The lung transplant will give Annie a chance for a better quality and longer life, with more energy and fewer restrictions. Although the lung transplant won't take away Annie's Scleroderma, it will however allow her to take back part of her health that has greatly impacted her every movement.
Our family and especially Annie, are truly grateful for whatever you are able to help with. Every dollar raised is one step closer to Annie breathing on her own without the assistance of oxygen. Getting Annie back to living a life without the fear of where her next breath is coming from is our ultimate goal.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for taking the time to read about Annie and for giving generously.
NOTE: If Annie's health should change not allowing her to get the double lung transplant or should her health situation change after surgery, all donations will be used to care for her or cover expenses related to Annie.
