Brian's Fight

Hello, my name is Jennifer Modic. I am writing this on behalf of my son-in-law, Brian, and my daughter, Brenda. On August 28, 2024, Brian was diagnosed with ALK Positive Large B Cell Lymphoma (blood cancer). This is an extremely rare and aggressive cancer. Because of how rare his cancer is (1% of all B cell lymphomas), Brian will immediately start more testing, chemo, possible radiation, stem cell transplant, and clinical trials. The chemo treatment alone is daunting. Brian will receive 6-8 cycles of chemo, with each cycle consisting of a week-long, 24-hour-a-day infusion of EPOCH therapy followed by 2-3 weeks of rest. This consists of 5-7 different drugs throughout the 7-day period.

As a young family, they did not expect this type of devastating news, no-one does. With the sheer amount of treatment and testing, Brenda will need to take time off work to care for Brian and their young girls, Quinn (3 years) and Tatum (20 months). They have a long, hard road ahead of them. They are both determined and terrified at the same time.

For those of us that have the pleasure of knowing Brian, we know what a wonderful and caring husband, father, son, brother, and friend he is. This is the time for us to come together and rally around Brian and his family with unwavering support and love. Whether it’s helping Brian and Brenda with day-to-day responsibilities, offering an encouraging word, or listening ear. Every small act of kindness can mean the world to them. Of course, monetary donations will help ease the financial burden this horrible disease will put on their family.

As Brian and Brenda face this battle together, we want to offer them as much support as possible.
