Jumba! The Swarts' Little Home
Donation protected
When was the last time YOU got to contribute to a leap of faith?
This past summer, Mari bought this little cottage and called it just that – her “leap of faith.” Her visa status was uncertain after Jannie’s death – but she knew she wanted Suné and Janco to have someplace to call home in their town if the possible happened and she had to return to South Africa.
She’s still here in PA – on a student visa (go Clarion Golden Eagles!) – and this little leap has required a complete gut and reno. Check out the photos! And until it’s done, she’s still living in a dear friend’s guest room.
So what’s left?
Siding - $3000
Cement work - $2000
Decks and porches - $1500
Total – $6500
Piece of cake.
Do you still need convincing? Hmm. Let’s see.
· How about connecting inside to the place you call home and seeing how you might help Mari and the kids find the same?
· How about feeling the delight that comes from hospitality extended and received?
· How about the fun of being part of something that we hope will go viral?
· How about making all those mushy songs about being home for the holidays a reality for them?
· If you’re a believing sort, how about living the Gospel?
The sooner we can roll the donations in, the likelier they are to celebrate Thanksgiving in their place. That would be poetic. And awesome.
Mari gave Second Presbyterian Oil City the chance to learn what it means to be church in an incredibly Mt 25 kind of way. If you didn’t already know, they’re handling the labor and much of the fundraising! (And we love you for it, 2nd Pres.) But they can’t finish the job alone. That’s where you come in.
The big is made up of a whole lot of littles. Click. C’mon. Nelson Mandela said, “It always seems impossible until it is done.” Let’s do this.
And watch a beautiful, soft landing happen for that leap of faith.
