Gio’s Road To Recovery
Donation protected
This past Saturday at a volleyball tournament in Ft Lauderdale my nephew, Gio tragically suffered a compound fracture of his tibia and fibula. Gio is a junior at Boca Raton High School with a 4.6 GPA, an AICE diploma recipient, AP Capstone candidate and is the captain of his volleyball team. He is deeply loved by his friends and teammates. The outpouring of love from hundreds of teammates, coaches, teachers, mentors, friends, and family, has been inspirational specially, with the mental obstacles he must overcome. These messages of hope have kept him going and have been reminders of his value as an athlete, and a person.
Anyone who knows Gio understands he is by no means an average athlete, he is a passionate competitor at the elite level. This is not because of natural talent or skill but because he has given it all to this sport physically, mentally and emotionally. Gio is being heavily recruited by some of the nations top Division I universities for volleyball. We all know that this current setback will serve as a testimony to his strengths, his character, and his commitment to excellence in his journey back to the court.
Any donations will go directly to the cost of surgery (hospital deductible), physical therapy 3x per week, and meeting with a sports psychologist. Regardless of donation, please leave a little love for Gio. A prayer, kind thought, and uplifting words make such a difference for anyone, but especially a 16 year old whose world was just flipped upside down.
