Thanks to all of you who have donated, continue to donate and will donate! So far:
- Successful Harvest Pup and Pumpkin Festival
- Coffee and Dogs support with a success rate of 80% of dogs adopted out!
- Creating Taos Hound Underground a temporary stay Hostel for dogs!
- Still working on Free Food Pantries and Placement.
- Finding locations for drop offs of Pet Food for those in need and for Hound Underground, Meow Town and more.
- Spay, Neuter, Parvo, Giardia, Vaccinations testing and procedures for multiple animals, well checks and more at local Vets.
- Developing Fosters and Support Networks

Hello,
My name is Julie Terrell and I've been in this amazing community of Taos County for a few years. Recently, witnessing the changes in our local shelter as they pursue their new direction I have witnessed a real concern in our County about the staggering amount of animals that now, literally, have no place to go. There are no longer contracts with our local shelter with our County or Town. Therefore Animal Control lost their location where they could take animals. Though the County is looking to open a very small, non public shelter there will literally be thousands of animals with nowhere to go over a years time. Our amazing Rescues are overwhelmed. This has resulted in some "dumping" of animals by the side of the road. More and more lost, confused, underfed and brokenhearted animals are showing up everywhere.
We can wait for "Others" or "Someone" or "Those People" or "The County and Town" to do something. But the animals can't wait. So, it's up to us. It's up to YOU and ME!
So what is the plan? Well, myself and others are working on lots of fun things coming up to help feed and home animals. Here are some of our ideas we have in mind. To make them happen we need some financial help to get started. I appreciate you reading our ideas below.
- We'd like funding to create Free Pet Food Pantries to place throughout the County. Though there are a few small programs available for folks to pick up pet food as needed they are primarily Taos Town located. Help is needed in the entire County. We hope to engage, Schools, Organizations, Groups and more to help create and place and adopt these Pantries so they are always filled. I'll be putting one on my private property too!
- Pet Adoption Events are coming up! We have a September 23rd "Coffee and Dogs" private and quiet meet and greet with dogs. Also, on October 14th, we will have a Harvest Pups and Pumpkins Festival! This will be dog adoptions, Fun Activities, Dog Training Demonstrations and more event. But the focus....finding Forever Homes for our Dogs. We are working on a Furry and Warm Kitty Adoption Event in November! This will continue. We are in this for the long haul! To create these events it takes money. We are seeking out sponsors and more but truly, just getting started we need YOU! <3
- Create equal opportunities for all that love animals to be able to support and adopt an animal if they wish to. So many have the love but don't have a budget every month to support a pet. We know how things happen and some months can be tight. Well, in these cases we step in and help as we can. Why? Every person that can love an animal and every animal that needs a home should be brought together don't you think?
- Fundraising is also to support the many Foster's out there who are caring for found animals that need a new, safe and healthy home.
How will you know how your funds will be used donated or for a payment for a purchase from a fundraising event? Well, I'm going to photograph this page, statements, withdrawals, purchases, show receipts and more. I believe in full Transparency and to Demonstrate to You a Trust so that We can keep Working Together to create Positive Endings for all our Animals that need help.
We are not currently at 501c3 but I am working on such. The opportunity to be such will help us really stretch our donor gifts and so much more.
