Surgery Recovery

Sunday December 3, 2023

Hi friends I am setting up this GoFundMe because more than ever, I need your help. In the past I might have set something like this up for a new makeup venture I was embarking on and believe me, I wish that was the case now.

Unfortunately I am setting this up from the hospital in Los Angeles with the help of a friend, who will be reaching out to you all more personally as the days and weeks progress and if you could help me with a few dollars - I would be grateful.

As some of you may or may not know, I developed a benign cervical spinal cord tumor about 15 years ago that reduced feeling in my right right hand and things have gotten progressively worst over the years as I deal with this rare degenerative disorder. Sadly it has progressed and I have just under gone another extensive surgery that I am recovering from and at present have lost the use of my legs. I am fighting and doing everything that they are telling me and working with a physiotherapist daily while in hospital.

I have been unable to work for the past 3 years and so my Union Insurance is 700 hours short of allowing coverage. These are difficult times for all of us and I realize that during the holidays we all get spread a little thin. I am hoping that you could spare even $5 to help me get bills paid and feed my family. You know how when things like this happen and people say “we will look back on this in a few years and laugh” I am hoping that that is the case. I am staying positive and I thank you in advance for sharing this with your friends.

For those that don’t know me here is a little bit about me:
I grew up in Vancouver, B.C. and spent my early years competing as an award winning figure skater and later doing so professionally. I took a fine art classes at Langara College which was the launching point into make up artistry. I moved to Los Angeles and studied all aspects of make up at Cinema Make Up School and made my professional introduction as a makeup artist on the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with the legendary Make Artist Todd McIntosh as my mentor and boss. From there came requests by celebrities like Diana Ross for fashion spreads and soon I was creating looks for the faces of Sofia Vergara, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Laura Prepon. My career granted me the privilege of working on Pirates of the Caribbean and the Hunger Games!

In 2011 my tumor returned, and after a life-saving surgery I was left with my greatest challenge yet: the loss of feeling in both hands. Without the ability to grip an eyeliner pencil and had to start to accept that I was no longer able to compete in the professional world of makeup artistry. I worked at developing a few products for the disability community to help them stay pretty but even that became a challenge and so I am now hopeful that if this is reaching you - you will look me up on Google and see some of the other things I have done. I wish you all the best and continued health and thank you for your support.
