Ronni’s recovery

Hey, my name is Annelise and this gofundme is for my dear friend Ronni.

Over the last 6 months Ronni has been dealing with severe symptoms caused by a flare up of ulcerative colitis, and she needs our help to get by while she gets better.

A little about her condition

UC is an auto-immune condition where the body attacks the lining of the large intestine. Ronni tries making jokes as a way of dealing with it (and as a single mum of boys she’s not afraid of poo jokes) but reality is she’s had months of extreme symptoms related to the disease. On top of that dealing with the stress of not being able to work or go out and socialise or exercise as she normally would.

History and Treatment

Ronni was diagnosed with this auto-immune disease 18 years ago but for the last 15 years, she has had no sign of it. This relapse has knocked her about. Ronni has been treating the condition with conventional medicine, supplements, herbal remedies, eliminating foods, bone broth diet, IV drip therapy, and more. She has been working with a number of health professionals and auto-immune and gut health specialists and trying to find different ways to approach this disease.

Recent Roadblocks

It got so bad that Ronni was unable to work in December 2023. Although she has had to go back to work she’s struggling with the severity of symptoms and the exhaustion that comes with the disease.

Daily Impact

If you saw her on a good day you wouldn’t be able to tell she’s sick, she has fewer ‘episodes’ and she can switch on and work at least part of the day but is completely wiped out from the exertion. On the worse days/not so good days it’s nearly impossible to leave the house, work, or keep up with the simple daily tasks around the home.

Ronni is always optimistic, and has been doing her best to just keep on keeping on - as a single parent, she needs to work. In the last 6 months her work and income has been majorly impacted and the cost of living and treatments has left her with no savings. Then, last month Ronni’s car was rear-ended and written off! Although the insurance will payout it won't cover the loan amount. Due to her reduced income, she has been unable to get approved for a loan to purchase another car.

Why we are here

Ronni is usually the friend on the other side of a go fund me. The one coordinating her loved ones to rally around someone who is in need of support. She is thoughtful and kind and always willing to help others.

It would be great to return the favour now, during her time of need. Your donations, of any amount, will help take some of the financial pressures off, and give her some breathing space to allow her body to rest and recover.
