As many of you know, I am very passionate about animal rescue and have been fostering cats and dogs in my home over the years. Max is one of my few Foster failures, meaning I ended up adopting him. He came to me at eight weeks old , just a little lazy loaf of bread. He is now almost 9 months old and still a lazy loaf, he has been an amazing puppy. So smart and sweet. Max had a run in with with another animal and has been significantly injured.
Normally, I would take him to the local vet that works with our fosters for a discounted price, but could not wait until Monday to do so. I rushed him to Veterinary Healthcare Associates in Winterhaven. As you can see by the picture his neck has a severe open wound on top, and there are several puncture wounds as well. He also has a wound over his eye. His face and neck is extremely swollen due to the trauma. He will be spending the night as they mend his wounds and make him comfortable. They have him currently on antibiotics and pain medication. They will be contacting me before surgery. He will need many stitches, and at home meds . Hopefully, they can treat him with a local anesthetic, but if not, they will have to put him to sleep, Which will of course increase his hospital cost.I was able to finance some of the cost, but the rest came out of my bank account leaving me with with no funds to get through the month of December.
If you know me I NEVER ask for help. I am asking know , humbly, for any help whatsoever. I know times are tuff for everyone, and it is right before the holidays. Whatever is donated will be greatly appreciated. Dog food or things to make Max’s recover more comfortable( old towels, pee pads……)Even if you wanted to drop off a meals for the kids and I, it would be a big help.
Thank you so much.
