Christmas was very different this year for me and my Family. While everyone was putting out mince pies and carrots for Santa and Rudolph. We were watching our little Manu like a hawk, something was seriously wrong and we had no idea what it was.
Manu is our 6 year old black Labrador, he is normally a very affectionate extremely laid back family dog, his nature is lovely and he is besties with our two young children. And anybody really who is willing to give him a tummy rub or a treat.
But on Christmas Eve we new something was terribly wrong, his condition progressively got worse throughout the night and it go to the point I was to scared to sleep and just lay beside him watching him without ever taking my eyes off him. Until Christmas morning came around, he had now become a shell of the dog we know and love, he wasn’t eating or drinking he was being sick, he was so lethargic, and those usually bright brown Labrador eyes were so sad and he was so unresponsive that immediate action had to be taken. At 10 o’clock on Christmas morning I rushed him to the emergency veterinary Hospital on North street in Glasgow, when he was seen and examined by a Vet our worst fears were imagined. He had a foreign object causing an obstruction in his small intestine that required immediate and risky abdominal surgery. Manu was so sick that the he had to be taken to ICU and monitored for over 24hours before he was well enough for the surgery to be carried out safely. On Boxing Day after the surgery was finally completed, the foreign object and a substantial amount of Manu’s small intestine had to be removed. He had just undergone major surgery, but by some miracle he is now slowly recovering in the hospitals ICU.
Receiving combinations of various pain relief, anti sickness medications, being fed through a gastric nasal tube and receiving blood plasma through numerous different IVs and barely even able to walk or lift his head up. But he is a fighter and a brave boy who is still with us.
his initial diagnosis care pre and post surgery, and of course the surgery itself is wracking up a substantial bill, Manu is covered with insurance but the 4000 max pay out barely even covers the cost of the surgery itself, the bill has reached 15,000 pounds now and we still don’t know when we are going to get him home.
So I am on my knees asking, pleading with anyone who is willing to listen, how much would you pay to bring your beloved family pet home, this is not how I planned spending my festive period but I’m asking for your help. Every penny anybody is willing to spare will help bring my best friend home.
please help bring Manu home for 2024 xox
thankyou xox
