Sarita VS Cancer
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Ricardo LeDoux. My 35 year old sister Sarita has just been diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Breast Cancer. As a super talented self employed hair stylist and mother of two young and beautiful children, she is about to begin the fight for her life.
Due to the high cost of health care in this country, she has only able to afford full health care for her children. A few months back she had a mammogram and they found something suspicious, but for the additional testing and procedures, it was going to cost her $7,000 out of pocket. The subsidized health insurance she had for herself did not provide for many “extra” tests.
As our family started to gather money for it, she decided to approach the Moffet Center in Tampa directly and see if they could help or at least accept her measly insurance. They were extremely nice and accommodating. After a consultation and exam, they ran a gauntlet of test which revealed that she in fact has cancer in her breast. It has indeed spread to her lymph nodes. Being young, this cancer is very aggressive, and as I write this we are awaiting results on test to determine where it has spread.
Anyone that knows my sister Sarita, knows that she is the most loving and caring person. She always has been. I've always called her my “Hippy Sister”, being a Libra with a free spirit and generous personality. Our family has always been very close, raised by a single mother who herself fought and beat Breast Cancer just 5 years ago now.
The treatment regiment is lining up as you read this, and its going to be a great battle. Sarita is scheduled to have a port put into her chest to begin immediate chemo for at least 4 months. Along with this will be a mastectomy, radiation, reconstruction, and whatever the doctors may suggest.
Being self employed and not able to work for a while after she has surgery, even lifting her little one will be a task. She is going to need help. With very limited family near her, its going to be a lot of work just getting the little things done. I am writing this in hopes that anyone that can donate and help her through this hard time will do so. Even a prayer is greatly appreciated. Please share this with anyone. We are going to fight this together.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
God Bless.
