Charlie & Della Gunnell Flood Fund
My parents, Charlie and Della Gunnell, lost their home in a flood last Sunday, July 12th. This home has been in our family for more than 100 years. My mother was born there, and has never lived anywhere else. Most of their furniture is gone (the water was contaminated with sewage) and the cost to repair the house was out of their financial reach and none of the loss was covered by insurance. My siblings and I (along with our spouses) have been working all week, trying to salvage what we can, and also to find them a place to live. My dad suffers from severe dementia and finding a place for them where they will be safe and comfortable is our primary goal - however - this comes as an unexpected financial burden for them. Replacing most of their furniture, as well as some of their clothing, possibly their car, as well as the expense of moving (down payment, and rent in general) along with the cost incurred in drying and removing contaminated items so that we could begin to work in the house has been a huge burden on their finances.
Many of you know and love our parents, and many of you have spent time in our beloved home over the years. Any help that you could give Mom & Dad will be placed in a fund to offset the above costs, and the future expense of rent.
Thank you for your kindness, and for all your love and support through this past week and moving forward.
