John Christien Kinnas
September 19,1971 – December 6, 2020
John Kinnas was diagnosed with Colon Cancer in July of 2020 and immediately underwent an aggressive regimen of multiple rounds of chemotherapy. Though he and his family made tremendous sacrifices during this time, the treatments were unsuccessful and led to the decision to call in Hospice Care in late November. John Kinnas, age 49, passed away December 6, 2020.
John was born September 19, 1971 in Pittsfield, MA. John graduated from Taconic High School in 1989 and then served in the U.S. Army. An avid golfer, John was a member of The Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) and worked as a golf professional for ten years including being a staff member at Old Chatham Golf Club in Durham, NC. John later went to work for Peter Millar. John ultimately became the Director of Golf Events at Stitch Golf in 2017 and was a very important team member to Stitch Golf.
JK, as he was better known, was so special and was a very devoted husband of 22 years to Heather and father to Connor, 16 and Chase, 14. John, very committed to his family was a very focused person and was always striving to balance his incredible commitment to his job and to being the wonderful family man that he was. John was a huge movie fan and a very talented singer. A lover of music, UNC basketball, and watching his sons play sports, he was always with a smile and sharing his great sense of humor. John was special!
John’s life plan was shortened unexpectedly and certainly will be the cause of many adjustments for Heather and the boys. For this reason, we ask that you contribute any amount you can to support the family and to assist with the future education for the boys as they continue in life to honor their Father by striving for excellence. We ask that you do this in the name of our friend and truly special person, John Kinnas.
Thanks in advance for your support for our incredibly missed friend!
John was preceded in death by his mother, Diane Icardi. John is also survived by his father, John Walter Kinnas and his wife Barbara; and sister, Melissa Kinnas Tart and husband, Richard.
