Post-Robbery Reiumbursement Fund

Our beautiful South African friends (LeAnne and Reinardt) do not know we are setting this fund up. They are here in the US visiting us after dreaming of visiting the States for quite some time.

Their plan was to begin on the West Coast before driving across the country to us in Asheville, NC. 

Unfortunately, while having lunch in San Francisco, someone broke into their rental and stole both of their backpacks which contained:

 - LeAnne's grandmother's wedding ring, which Rein was planning on using to propose to LeAnne on this trip
- A laptop (they both use this for work)
- A digital SLR camera (Rein is a professional photographer)
- An extra camera lens
- A Kindle
- Quite a few essential oils

In total, the value of everything that was stolen amounts to over $10,000, which is nearly equivalent to a year's salary in South Africa.

After filing a claim with their lovely travel insurance company, the generous agents decided that they were entitled to $360. The agency didn't even ask for the cost of what was lost and now is largely ignoring their calls.

So now, much of the money they had saved up to visit the US as well as much of their savings must be used to replace many of these items. 

Despite it all, these 2 have remained positive and optimistic because that's the kind of wonderful people that they are.

We may not be able to reach the total value of their belongings, and we'll never be able to replace the wedding ring, but I know that every little bit helps them. They are here until Jan 23, and we would love to be able to hand them a nice check before they depart.

Our hope is that this fund overshadows their misfortune and demonstrates the generosity and kindness of Americans.
