Hi everyone,
This summer, our lives were turned upside down when our dad was diagnosed with Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. This news has been tough, but anyone who knows Grant knows he is a fighter.
His form of Sarcoma is exceptionally rare and requires some novel treatments to prevent spread and/or return. We are blessed to have specialists in the state who can give him the care he needs. Unfortunately, it will require him to spend five weeks away from his home and family. Grant is scheduled to begin an intensive course of radiation treatment next Monday at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
His doctor is optimistic, and we are holding onto hope that his prognosis is most likely positive if treatment goes as planned. With God's grace and a little luck, we are hoping to celebrate his cancer's remission by Thanksgiving.
Our dad is the bedrock of our family: a wonderful partner and caring father who has always put those he loves first, and a doting grandfather whose eyes light up around his grandkids. So many others in our community have also benefited from Grant’s love. Those who know him know that he is the first person to offer help for others in need, whether it’s a neighbor or friend, a local charity, or a fundraiser for someone else facing a difficult time. Now we are trying to give some of that love back to him.
Grant is fortunate enough to have health insurance coverage, which will take care of most of the costs associated with the treatment itself. But his radiation treatment requires spending five weeks away from home in Omaha. A few weeks of recovery before surgery. Then it will be at least another month of recovery following surgery until he regains full mobility. The money raised here will help offset the cost of his stay in Omaha, and the several months of reduced wages and extra expenses he and our mom, Summer, are facing.
Your donation will help give us peace of mind to focus on what truly matters—supporting his healing and getting him back to the life and family he loves so much. If you are unable to donate at this time, you can still help tremendously by sharing this page with your friends, family, and social networks. Your prayers, positive thoughts, and messages of encouragement also mean the world to us.
With love and gratitude,
The Ahlman Family
